The Extraordinary Chuck Berry: Lyrical, Musical Blue-Collar Beethoven - Shakespearean Genius!

1950's - 1960's Rock and Roll neon animated gif - teenager reading, studying, listening to 45 rpm single record playing rock n' roll music neon jukebox.
MR. CHUCK BERRY
LEGENDARY
LYRICAL, MUSICAL
BLUE-COLLAR
BEETHOVEN
SHAKESPEAREAN
GENIUS

March 19 2017, Michigan's Blue Collar Scholar's Mt. Rushmore of Rock N' Roll Legend, Lyrical, Musical Genius Chuck Berry articles, autobiography book, guitar book, & movie documentary links to learn more about his creative genius.

A Blue-Collar Beethoven (music) and Shakespeare (lyrics)! He's Number 1 in my book.
Mr. Rock and Roll.
In Michigan 1950's and 1960's, there would always be a Chuck Berry tune playin' somewhere, be it an AM transistor radio (man, I went through the batteries), restaurant jukebox, someone's too loud car radio driving by, or just being played on your record player.

Put Chuck Berry on Mt. Rushmore.
How about Mt. Rockmore?
Yep!

St. Louis Music Yesterdays - Mr. Chuck Berry
Metro St. Louis Live Music Historical Society
Great biography of Rock n' Roll Music Legend Mr. Chuck Berry - photos, video, picture of Chuck Berry's star on St. Louis Walk of Fame and more.

His songs were brilliant, lyrically and musically. Through these extraordinary song lyrics Chuck Berry wrote (Chuck Berry loved cars, Mr. Berry was an autoworker in an automotive factory at one stage of his life. Cool.) and the music he performed and created, Chuck Berry inspired a generation to pick up a guitar and learn how to play and write songs. Songs with lyrics anyone and everyone could relate to in their lives. Especially teenagers. He was one of a kind. Unique. Changed hit music and popular music forever, through his great song writing and guitar playing. Who can forget his trademark duck walk? Still today, one can hear his guitar riffs in thousands and thousands of songs and bands, be it country, rock n' roll, blues...etc.
Famous Chuck Berry songs he penned and put music to, like his most famous classic rock n roll hit, Johnny B. Goode (covered by Jimi Hendrix - Hendrix In The West LP, Johnny Winter). Johnny B. Goode tune is a garage band - bar band staple). Johnny B. Goode is the song in the 1985 movie "Back To The Future", famously played on guitar by Marty at that high school dance, near the end of the movie. Cool!
Johnny B. Goode song was covered by other famous artists, also.
Carol (Rolling Stones Get Your Ya Ya's out live album), Let it Rock (Michigan's Bob Seger on Live Lp - man, would be cool if Bob Seger did a whole album of Chuck Berry songs).
Roll Over Beethoven (The Beatles 2nd American LP, ELO Electric Light Orchestra's first radio hit record, Mountain live LP), Rock and Roll Music (The Beatles), Maybelline, No Particular Place To Go, Living In The USA, Memphis (Johnny Rivers) and countless other 45 rpm singles, albums and AM - FM radio classics.
Just remembered, that in the Michigan old days, 45 singles and albums, LP's (long playing - called "vinyl" nowadays) were arranged alphabetically in the record stores aisles. One could effortlessly flip through the latest albums. Chuck Berry was placed in "B" section (B as in Berry) along with The Beach Boys and The Beatles. All started with B. Nice if you wanted to look at lastest records from all three groups. Hmmm. Wonder if that was a wonderful coincidence? Chuck Berry...starts with Be, Beatles starts with Be and Beach Boys...Be. Chuck had seniority on these famous groups and influenced both groups in their teenage years. Early Beach Boys song hits always reminded me of Chuck Berry. Just with a little beach sand thrown in!

Heck, as a youngin' in the Michigan summers, during early 1960's, going to a trampoline park (do they still have them anymore?) which piped in rock and roll throughout the park via various loudspeakers. Loud!
Too cool.
Remember jumpin' up and down to Chuck Berry rock n roll, Beach Boys, surf music, and other songs. Chuck was the favorite.
Faster the song, the higher you'd try to jump.

Remember going to summer carnivals and hearing "Memphis" playing as I rode the Ferris wheel and "Johnny B. Goode" rockin' and rollin' out of a loudspeaker when I was trying to win a prize by throwing a baseball at some stacked bottles or something. Can't exactly remember what I was throwing the ball at or what I could win...but can't forget that Johnny B. Goode song playing!
Man, those were some good times!

Skating rink played that Chuck Berry Rock and Roll, too.
Man, that was some great music to skate to.
Again, as a kid, the faster the song, the faster you'd skate to it.
Man, it hurt real bad when you fell because you were going to fast around that rink.
Ouch!
Too much monkey business, as Chuck would say.
You know what I'm talkin' about.
But it was still
Fun, Fun, Fun!

Still can't beat the sound of a Chuck Berry song playing through that one speaker in the car, in mono (not stereo) from the local AM radio station!
Scratches and everything!
Stereo don't git it with Chuck Berry.
Anyone from the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and 1960's and 1970's can relate.
You know what I'm talkin' about...
Sunny day with the convertible top down...
I rest my case!

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Seger and others covered his songs and were influenced by Chuck Berry.

Blue-Collar Michigan Scholar's
Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease,
Food for Thought,
TV News Ticker Idea,
Suggestion, Solution
To Local Tv and National TV Channels Across the USA to
Help Increase Voter Registration, Turnout and Voting: The News Ticker.
What's that?
On our TV's it's located at the bottom of the screen. It scrolls right to left, displaying breaking news, sports scores, weather, school closings...etc.
Does politics, also. Saw primary results scroll by in it few weeks ago.
No kidding!
It does politics just fine.
Didn't break.
It'll be even finer with register to vote dates. So,
How about putting Last Day to Register To Vote in Primary and General Election Dates on that
scrolling News Ticker?
Both Local and National TV New Channels could do this. It would be a
Public service.
Someone's just gotta type it in. It's digital. It's Free.
Doesn't cost anything, I bet.
Advertising works, or we wouldn't see so many ads and commercials,
Would we?
Why not "advertise" the Voter Registration and Election Dates in the News Ticker?
Who knows?
Maybe a Michigan politician or some other states politician will see this Michigan news ticker - registration and voting date idea, Support
and
Endorse it.
Heck, just maybe,
a Presidential candidate
or member of their campaign staff
will view
Michigan news ticker advertising idea,
Support
and Endorse
an idea that informs people and promotes more voter turnout.
Now, that would be
Cool.
That's TV watchin' that
makes a difference.
Thanks, if you can make it happen.
You got our vote.
President Obama
just spoke about a
National Voting Day
to promote
voter turnout.
Until this happens
(with today's political climate, don't hold your breath),
news ticker idea is one that could be done
Now
to promote voter turnout
for 2016 Primary and
General elections.
Let's see,
can be done now and
don't cost nuthin'.
Money saved fills a pothole.
Sounds like a
Winner
for everyone...and their cars!
Cool!
Just my blue-collar,

Fun writing,

Why aren't these guys in Cleveland, Ohio's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Maybe a Michigan Republican Delegate to the
2016 Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio
can put in a good word
for the Band at the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's in Cleveland, Ohio  also.
Heck, try to put it in the party platform
(just kidding, hmmmm...on second thought).
At least, let them take their
Good Singin' and Good Playin'
to the Convention and
perform at the festivities.
That's some great
Working class music.
Crank it up.
On Time album,

We're An American Band.
It don't get no blue-collarer than that.
Hey, created a new word.

Great song.

Professor Blue Collar Scholar's Michigan Every Which Way But Loose Rap:
Gotta feelin' this 2016 Presidential election,  American political history speakingwise, is gonna be one of  the most analyzed, studied, reported on, editorialized, talked about, books written about, in journalism, marketing and advertising schools, college classes, universities political science courses, discussed at dinner tables (some advice, don't talk politics at dinner table), forever into the future. Campaign-wise, technology-wise, amount of print and broadcast journalism media coverage-wise, social media-wise.
This is a pivotal election every which way but loose (great 1970's Clint Eastwood movie by the way).

Presidential Elections, 1789 to 1920: Resource Guides United States Library of Congress website. Takes you wayback in time to 1789 thru 1920 "manuscripts, letters, broadsides, government documents, prints, photographs, sheet music, sound recordings, films, and newspaper articles". Collection of primary source materials. Great historical lookback at elections for the Executive Branch of our government, The Presidency of the United States circa 1789 through 1920.
Blue Collar Michigan Scholar Rap: Compared to our times today, the times back then were more challenging for our Presidential candidates, communications wise. Presidential campaigns during the early periods operated before the advent of broadcast radio, television, electricity, telephones, recordings, automobiles and other amenities we enjoy today like smartphones, the internet, world wide web.

In the Earlier times and years of the Presidency, there were no ABC, Bloomberg Tv, CBS, C-Span, NBC, CNN, Dish Tv, Direct Tv, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax Tv, Free Speech Tv, Talk Radio, telephone companies..etc. There were newspapers. Political candidates penned editorials in local newspapers. Citizens wrote in letters to the editor. Candidate's Speeches delivered in various public and private venues. People walked and traveled by horse.

Communications were much slower then. Word of mouth. Imagine the challenges of a Presidential campaign during the era. How hard the candidates must of worked to earn each vote. They loved our great country, wanted it to be successful, forever into the future. Each candidate had a vision for this future and their own prescription for it's success, using the communications tools of those earliest times, just as
Hillary Clinton,

Donald Trump,

Bernie Sanders,

Ted Cruz-Carly Fiorina,

John Kasich use the communications tools of our times today.
In our mind's eye, just can't picture the time the Father of our Country, George Washington, our First President, Facebooking, Instagramming, Tweeting on Twitter or whatevering. One pictures George Washington exclaiming "I cannot tell a lie, it's folly! That's what it is. folly, John Adams"!

If you don't know who John Adams is, why not take the time to visit the highly educational United States Library of Congress Presidential Elections History Website to learn more?

4 the Musician in U, Zoom Q2 HD Video Recorder Rocks

One night last fall I participated in a guitar karaoke band jam. Used my first smartphone to record it. When I played it back, I was surprised how terrible it recorded live rock music video and sound. Could barely hear my rhythm guitar, singers vocals, bass or drums. All together it was a muddy sonic soup. The icing on the cake, or lack of it, was the video. The flashing lights and different colors of lighting from the ceiling and stage, blurred the video recording from the table I sat my old smartphone on to record the performance. I had to use sketch or cartoon mode to get anything that resembled a live band video with the lighting issues. Still the images were muddy from the changing lighting hues and distance. I had to find an alternative.

I remembered reading an ad in one of my guitar mags which featured a Steve Vai endorsed product. Went combing through latest issue of Guitar World, Guitar Player, Premier Guitar until I found the ad for the zoom Q2 HD video recorder. Read positive online viewpoints, so I decided to purchase it. Around $200. Got it online from ZZOUNDS.COM Customer service was perfect and it arrived couple of days later. Unit is very small, compact and can sit on a tripod. It has an easy user interface. Video frames you don't want out can be edited out on camera, saving disk recording space. In fact I had a mini tripod from the seventies that fit perfectly. Read manual, decided to use rechargeable batteries and tested it out. Recorded another performance. Sound quality was cd like. Was extremely pleased with video since I recorded at a lower resolution. Comes with 2gb card. Can take up to 64 gb card. XDSC  capability. Sound was so good, in mike surround recording, which I chose, I could hear the pool players making their shots and the band both clearly. If I chose to record just the band, the pool table sounds would be inaudible. Also, this video cam picks up those ever so slight playing mistakes that happen occassionally. That is a good thing! Back to the woodshed. This video cam helps you to become a better player, no matter what instrument you play.
Easy to transport. Very small and slim.

Recommend getting the Q2 HD apq-2HD Accessory Pack (windscreen, ac adapter, HDMI cable, USB cable, adjustable tripod stand and padded shell case) Around 35 dollars, can't remember exact amount.
This gizmo also streams video to You Tube or Ustream. Never done it, not interested , but you may be.
Anyway, until the smartphones can compete with these audio-video specific devices for band recording, and I'm sure they will one day, this is the one I am extremely happy with.
If Steve Vai's face and endorsement wasn't in the ad, I probably wouldn't have bought this specific product. He is a musical virtuoso,  perfectionist and highly admired. Think he was guitarist in David Lee Roth's post-Van Halen band.
Official Zoom Sound Laboratory Q2 HD website
Nice photos, description, in depth analysis.
Called customer service once and they were very professional and answered my camera questions.
