History's being made everyday.

Sports, inventions, politics...etc.

Sometimes it's on the telly (British term for television, if my ancient memory serves correctly)...
and
sometimes it's not.

History was made in our great American past, as we all know.
Sometimes one forgets the details (schoolin' was a long time ago) or
one just didn't know about it.

That's why community libraries are so important.

Heck, support your Michigan (or whatever state you reside in) local library and check out a book or two...or three.

Great for brain power.

Don't know much about History?
One may or may not.
Wanna learn more?

Check this out...

It's a sunny day!

Learn more about our great American History
by
checking out a book
or two
or three
from
Your Michigan (or the state's you live in) community library.
They do a great job!

Never too late to learn!

We all need schoolin'...

Michigan 16 Electoral Votes Blue Collar Scholar's TGIF Afternoon in Michigan "The Rating Game Show" Rap:
Anyone remember 1960's Afternoon TV Show "The Dating Game" hosted by  a Master of Ceremonies whom stayed out of the interviewer's decision making as to who their final choice was to go on a date with. Three mystery contestants (to the interviewer, not the TV audience) would entertain questions from the interviewer and each mystery contestant would give an answer from their unique perspective. The individual suitor who did the best job in the eyes of the interviewer would go on a date with the interviewer, chaperoned and paid for by the TV show. It was always a cool place where they would have the date at.
The questions were a mix of interesting and provocative.
The answers individual suitors gave were a mix of humor, seriousness, tongue-in-cheek, charm, thought provoking, provocative...etc.
One would always wonder in TV audience land
"Who would they pick?"
Their final choice was sometimes surprising...
and interesting.
Viewing, out in TV land,
sometimes,
one could have bet that and were sure that
Number One Contestant would be picked...
and lo and behold...
they picked
Number Two...or
Number Three!
How could It be?
But,
after all,
it was the interviewers choice...
Wasn't it.
The Game Show Host never talked up one of the mystery contestants.
The Game Show Host...
Let the Interviewer Decide...
Who They Wanted To Go On The Date With.
What a novel concept!

The Ratings Game...
is what major tv networks operate under. Understandable.
Gotta pay the salaries and kilowatts.
Capitalism.
That's cool.
This is America.
What's not cool
and is square
is bias and unfairness pertaining to any presidential candidate.
The major network views/ news talkers seem to be promoting only one of the choices for President.
The other choice's name is repeatedly maligned and mentioned a majority of the time in negative terms. If there even is a counter balancing opinion on the candidate, it seems that lone voice is outnumbered. Big time. Big League.

What happened to letting the electorate decide?

Whom We choose for the "four year date" (presidential term) is Our decision.
Why won't they evenly show both sides of the arguments for and against? Like C-Span does!

Light Bulb Moment.
Brainstorm.
Simple solution!

3 to be exact!

Each major network opinion maker mentions...
1. Who they voted for in the last 3 or 4 Presidential Elections.
2. What party, if any, are they a member of?
3. Finally, do they have any credit hours in Journalism.

Simple.

In 2016 Michigan battleground swing state key state in 2016 Presidential Contest.  Michigan has 16 Electoral Votes. 16 EVs. That's alot and we are a pivotal state in the Presidential election for candidates Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein.

Help Increase Voter Registration, Turnout and Voting: The News Ticker.
What's that?
On our TV's it's located at the bottom of the screen. It scrolls right to left, displaying breaking news, sports scores, weather, school closings...etc.
Does politics, also. Saw primary results scroll by in it few weeks ago.
No kidding!
It does politics just fine.
Didn't break.
It'll be even finer with register to vote dates. So,
How about putting Last Day to Register To Vote in Primary and General Election Dates on that
scrolling News Ticker?
Both Local and National TV New Channels could do this. It would be a
Public service.
Someone's just gotta type it in. It's digital. It's Free.
Doesn't cost anything, I bet.
Advertising works, or we wouldn't see so many ads and commercials,
Would we?
Why not "advertise" the Voter Registration and Election Dates in the News Ticker?
Who knows?
Maybe a Michigan politician or some other states politician will see this Michigan news ticker - registration and voting date idea, Support

Endorse it.
Heck, just maybe,

Put on your best Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone, Robert Downey, Jr.) inquisitive look and hat, Columbo rumpled overcoat (Peter Falk), grab the magnifying glass, draw on your inner Carl Sagan (Cosmos) and go In Search Of (Leonard Nimoy) knowledge. Oh, Don't forget to Register to Vote. Then Vote in Your States Presidential Primary, Your States August Primary and Your States November General Election 2016. Professor Blue Collar Scholar's Michigan Every Which Way But Loose Rap:
Gotta feelin' this 2016 Presidential election,  American political history speakingwise, is gonna be one of  the most analyzed, studied, reported on, editorialized, talked about, books written about, in journalism, marketing and advertising schools, college classes, universities political science courses, discussed at dinner tables (some advice, don't talk politics at dinner table), forever into the future. Campaign-wise, technology-wise, amount of print and broadcast journalism media coverage-wise, social media-wise.
This is a pivotal election every which way but loose (great 1970's Clint Eastwood movie by the way).
Political campaigns are usually boring to a lot of people. Campaign 2016 is not.

If you enjoy political history, and looking behind the curtains and scenes of presidential candidates elections campaigns of past years, the unique individuals who had a vision for our country, and decided to get involved in presidential politics, you won't be disappointed by Mr. White's legendary books. Opinions were being shared on how competitive the presidential candidates will be in these states. Interesting discussion. Then a commercial came on. Then another. Then another. Then another. Blue Collar Michigan Scholar Rap: Compared to our times today, the times back then were more challenging for our Presidential candidates, communications wise. Presidential campaigns during the early periods operated before the advent of broadcast radio, television, electricity, telephones, recordings, automobiles and other amenities we enjoy today like smartphones, the internet, world wide web.

In the Earlier times and years of the Presidency, there were no ABC, Bloomberg Tv, CBS, C-Span, NBC, CNN, Dish Tv, Direct Tv, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax Tv, Free Speech Tv, Talk Radio, telephone companies..etc. There were newspapers. Political candidates penned editorials in local newspapers. Citizens wrote in letters to the editor. Candidate's Speeches delivered in various public and private venues. People walked and traveled by horse.

Communications were much slower then. Word of mouth. Imagine the challenges of a Presidential campaign during the era. How hard the candidates must of worked to earn each vote. They loved our great country, wanted it to be successful, forever into the future. Each candidate had a vision for this future and their own prescription for it's success, using the communications tools of those earliest times, just as
Hillary Clinton,

Donald Trump,

Bernie Sanders,

Ted Cruz-Carly Fiorina,

John Kasich use the communications tools of our times today.
In our mind's eye, just can't picture the time the Father of our Country, George Washington, our First President, Facebooking, Instagramming, Tweeting on Twitter or whatevering. One pictures George Washington exclaiming "I cannot tell a lie, it's folly! That's what it is. folly, John Adams"!

Happy Birthday To Brian Lamb's Invention of C-Span! First Telecast on March 19, 1979. 37 Years Old.

The History of C-Span "Our History" page.
Thank you, Brian Lamb.
C-Span is today 37 years old today. Born on March 19, 1979. Jimmy Carter was President. TV's invented by Philo Farnsworth, were big... screens were curved and made of glass.  No way to hang on wall. No smartphones, either. Phones...Alexander Graham Bell's invention, were considered, well.. just phones! They were big, had buttons and hooked to the wall with real people called telephone operators that helped you when you dialed "0". Now we can watch TV and C-Span on our phone! Who would of thunk it back then? Interestingly, former Vice-President Al Gore was the first televised speaker to the C-span audience. Video of his speech is on the "Our History" page. More interesting is the fact that Al Gore was primarily instrumental in promoting legislative policy and funding for the widespread adoption of the internet as we know it and Sir Tim Berners-Lee is considered the inventor, creator and father of the World Wide Web. Brian Lamb's vision and leadership let ordinary citizen's view their government in action...live...unfiltered, (British government, also) and he created Washington Journal so citizens could call-in to comment on it (tweet, email, facebook their views, also). For 37 years we have seen our elected leader's in action and they have listened to our views on C-span and our country has benefitted immensly. Happy Birthday to Brian Lamb's invention of C-Span and thank you from all of us, Brian, for following the journalistic ethic of "Let the Reader Decide". It is the greatest invention of all. Alexander Graham Bell and Philo Farnsworth are proud of you, Mr. Lamb.  But more importantly, Our Founder's are proud of you. God Bless America.

C-SPAN 1 Eastern Time 7 am to 10 am

Being new to the art of blogging, one constantly asks themselves, "What do I write about?" in the blog. With access to cable TV in close proximity to my computer, another blogging subject came to mind. Being a channel-surfer, I stopped on C-Span channel one and noticed Washington Journal was in the middle of a live broadcast. In summary, C-Span's Washington Journal program has one & sometimes two guests (if two guests, usually on opposing sides of the political spectrum concerning the topic, but not always) opining on the chosen morning's topic at hand. I happened to be on the Blogger website, and was going to write a blog post. Voila! A blog topic miraculously appeared in my mind. Why not blog about C-Span Washington Journal? As an aside, I highly recommend having other forms of media around you in real-time when you are attempting to blog brainstorm about possible topics. Television worked for me in this instance, because it was in the same room as my computer. I'll blog more about this in a future blogging post.
I noticed during the show that call-in phone numbers for the show were not constantly displaying on the television screen. Probably because it does somewhat distract a viewer from the visual aspects of the excellent show. Understandable. Problem was, I was thinking about calling in, and the numbers were on their temporary hiatus. (Note to self: program them in your phone, you big dummy. Noted!) So here I type. I searched Google and found a few sites with the phone numbers. I had visited C-Span's site, but they were not right there and I was impatient and did not feel like excavating through their great website. Google would be much faster I figured, and I was right. To be fair, MSN & Yahoo would have performed admirably, too & probably other search engines. Plus, Blogger is owned by Google and since they let us bloggers blog for free, I thought I'd give them a click to return the favor! So that's why that list of C-SPAN Washington Journal Contact Information Call-In Phone Numbers is at the top of this blog post. If you ever have an AHA moment, feel like calling in while watching Washington Journal wanting to voice your opinion to the guest and viewing public, and the darned phone numbers happen to not be on the screen at that time & you don't have them programmed in your phone's memory, you can click my blog post! Hey, I'm trying. Good old American Ingenuity. uaw
